Description

Organization mission: Meals on Wheels of Mercer County is a comprehensive nutrition program committed to providing nutritious meals and related services which are designed to promote the independence, dignity, health and well-being of our homebound participants.

DESCRIPTION - Per county grant requirements, subsidized meal recipients are to be reassessed every 6 months with their updated health, dietary and financial information.  Volunteers would go to meal recipients' homes to complete these reassessments.

Meals on Wheels Mercer county is looking for nurse volunteers to meet with subsidized meal recipients to complete reassessments in order to obtain updated health, dietary and financial information.

About the Organization: Founded in 1973, Meals on Wheels of Mercer County provides daily, home-delivered meals to individuals who are homebound, and are unable to shop or prepare meals for themselves. These “meals-on-wheels” are delivered by volunteers five days per week, and may include weekend meals.

Typically, Meals on Wheels programs serve homebound seniors who are over 60 in their communities. Meals on Wheels of Mercer County also serves a growing population of those under 60, who find themselves unable to cook or shop due to the onset of a debilitating disease, or another life changing situation that makes them homebound. This could be temporary, or for a longer term. Mercer County is also unique in that we provide a significant number of subsidies for those who cannot afford the cost of our meals.

Only registered members can apply for jobs.
